Charles "Charlie" Erdmann, 28, of
Norwalk, CT passed away on March 1, 2026, from injuries sustained in an accident involving an automobile the previous day in Stratton, Vermont.
Charlie is survived by his parents, Barbara and Jeff Erdmann; brothers, Tom and Will Erdmann; and grandmother, Tanis Erdmann. He is predeceased by his grandfathers, John F. Erdmann II and Walter Korfman; and grandmother, Betty Korfman. He is also survived by his uncles, Gregory (Lisa) Erdmann and Robert (Shannon) Erdmann; aunt, Joanie Vesciglio; aunt, Linda Shepard; and 11 cousins. He will also be dearly missed by his girlfriend, Beatrice Holding. Charlie also leaves behind a wide circle of extended family members who love him very much. His countless friends and all who knew him felt the impact of his generosity, charm, loyalty, and infectious enthusiasm for life. Charlie lived with boundless energy, charisma, and passion that made a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
From an early age, Charlie felt most at home outdoors. He developed a deep love for fishing, hunting, and skiing - passions forged and shared with his grandfather, father, brothers, and uncles. Whether pursuing striped bass along the Connecticut coast, hunting elk in the Colorado mountains, duck hunting on the Long Island Sound, fishing for tuna and marlin hundreds of miles offshore, or backcountry skiing with friends, Charlie found joy and connection in the natural world.
He was known among friends and family for his remarkable instincts as an outdoorsman, his accomplished boatmanship, and his adventurous spirit. Fishing trips offshore and time spent in the mountains were among the experiences he treasured most with his father, brothers, and friends.
A gifted athlete, he excelled in multiple sports throughout his life. He attended New Canaan Country School, The Windward School, and The Berkshire School, where he served as captain of both the varsity football and varsity lacrosse teams. Charlie graduated from the University of Vermont. As a freshman, he earned a starting position on the varsity lacrosse team and went on to be recognized as one of Division I's most impactful face-off specialists. He was known to turn the game around with his grit, aggressiveness, and competitiveness. Charlie's coaches and teammates admired not only his skill, but also his leadership, competitive spirit, and unwavering support for those around him.
If Charlie's greatest gift wasn't his ability to connect with people, it was his infectious smile! Throughout his life-from school to athletics to work-he formed friendships easily and sincerely. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome and valued, and he showed up for the people he cared about without hesitation. His generous heart, booming laugh, and genuine interest in others created friendships that span communities and lasted a lifetime.
Charlie joined Merrill Lynch in January 2022, determined to forge his own path and build his own success. His father was known to say: "I don't want to rob my son of him creating his own success." After four years of intense hard work on his own in NYC at Merrill Lynch, Charlie recently joined his father's business, the Erdmann Group, in
Greenwich, CT in February 2026. His father was immensely proud of him for building his own brand and business and rising as a leader at Merrill Lynch.
Charlie Erdmann packed more living, more loving, and more adventure into 28 years than most of us will manage in a lifetime. He left no experience on the table. He wasted no sunlight. He never met a fish he didn't want to catch, an experience he didn't want to miss, or, most importantly, a friend he didn't want to keep forever. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, teammates, and all whose lives he touched.
A celebration of Charlie's life will be held at The Maritime Aquarium, 10 N Water Street,
Norwalk, CT at 5:00 PM on Thursday, March 12, 2026.
