Charles Fable Obituary

Charles T. Fable, II
May 20, 1963 - December 30, 2024
Chaz (Charles Theodore) Fable II, age 61 years, of Wethersfield, CT, passed away in his home on December 30, 2024. Chaz was a well-known chef, a dedicated community member, master of charming conversation, and most importantly, a proud father to four. His face lit up with any chance to share his pride in each of his kids. He loved spending time with all of them, often saying his favorite moments were those they shared together, and he deeply cherished the time they had. He instilled in them a love for cooking and classic "dad" rock.
Chaz is survived by his children, Jacquie Fable, Kristen Fable, Teddy (Charles Theodore) Fable III (fiancée Carissa Raver), Julie Fable, and his loving partner Valeria Fable. In addition, Chaz is survived by his mother Donna Hitt Meyers, his siblings, Melissa (Fable) Dempsey, Liese Niedermayer, Jennifer Meyers (Mark), Adam Meyers (Ingrid), brother-in-law Adam Aronson, as well as many nieces and nephews, Randi, Matthew, David, Stephanie, Daniel, Bryan, Erich, Jessica, Alle, Olivia, Julian, Kiona, Julia.
Chaz was born on May 20, 1963, in Norwalk, CT to Ted (Charles Theodore) Fable and Donna Hitt Meyers. Chaz was predeceased by his father Ted, stepfather Garry Meyers, and his sisters, Kimberly Fable, and Rebekah Meyers Aronson.
Chaz expressed his love for bringing people together by creating wonderful food meant to be shared. He had a lifelong career in the culinary arts, primarily at Stew Leonard's as Director of Kitchen Operations and Executive Chef. During his years at Stew's, he mentored many young chefs and was recognized with countless awards. He served several terms as the President of the American Culinary Federation, Northwestern Connecticut Chapter, where he was also voted as Member of the Year in 1996 and Chef of the Year in 1997. He was a neighborhood celebrity, appearing on local news with his magnetic demeanor to demonstrate cooking segments and modeled on many of Stew's advertisements and catering vehicles.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, January 5, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield, CT 06109
A Celebration of Life will take place on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Wethersfield Evangelical Free Church, 511 Maple Street, Wethersfield, CT 06109 followed by light refreshments.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made through the GoFundMe page: https://gofund.me/ac14bd63. Funds will be to aid Julie Rae Fable in her pursuit of higher education. Chaz was excited for her bright future, and we are all so thankful for the community she has to support her in reaching her dreams.

We wanted to extend our condolences to the family of Charles. We did not know him but knew of him, as frequent shoppers at Stew Leonards in Newington. Every time we saw him, he was always so kind. He was always going above and beyond to help us or any customer in need. He would literally stop anything he was doing to make sure we got the best customer service. We are so sorry for your loss. You´ll be in our thoughts and prayers.

I am so saddened by the death of Chaz. Stew Leonard´s donated the food for Peter Lavery´s memorial motorcycle run and Chaz delivered the food and did the cooking for us. He was always so positive and because of his leadership we got the food ready each year. I´m so sorry for your loss but thank you for sharing him with us for twenty years.

I met Chaz a little over 5 short years ago at St Paul´s Church. Chaz always made time to talk with me and when I saw him at Stews he would always come over to me and see how I was doing. Chaz was such a kind man that helped so many of Bills friends and he will be missed dearly. My thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family during this difficult and sad time. I will never forget Chaz . He was taken from this earthly world too soon but I have no doubt he is up in the heavens preparing an incredible meal for us until we arrive. Thank you Chaz for your kindness and support. You will most certainly be missed.

Valaria...an apology to your baby Daughter...I called her STAR when it was Julie...but Chaz was so proud of her - guess my brain named her STAR for the star in her Dad's life. May the tears and sadness become happy memories with peace in your heart.

Sincerest sympathies to Val,Julie and Family.
Chaz was such a wonderful, kind and cheerful next door neighbor. With our busy work lives, often just a smile and wave as we headed out or returned home. I enjoyed shopping @ Stew's- Just to hear that "Howdy Neighbor !" he would call out to me in the store.Prayers to you all during this extremely difficult time.Chaz will be greatly missed.

I will always have a special place in my heart for Chaz.. We worked very closely together at Stew Leonard's for 30 years . There was a small , close group of us that " grew up " together and shared a lot of life experiences with each other . I will remember him for his smile, jokes and talented skills . He left a mark everywhere he went . Until we meet again, Chaz !!! You will be deeply missed....
