Charles Edward Fields, age 88, of Brookfield, MO; passed away Wednesday morning, June11, 2025, at Sullivan County Memorial Hospital in Milan, MO; surrounded by his family.
Charles was born on May 1, 1937, to the late Robert Edward and Catherine (Zeigler) Fields in Kirksville, MO. On June 2, 1978, he married Helen Foster in Browning, MO.
Charles worked at MFA for 39 years, retiring as manager at the MFA in Browning. After retiring, Charles owned and operated his own rock hauling truck. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and trucking. Charles loved the outdoors and spending time with his family; he especially loved playing with his grandkids.
Charles is survived by his wife Helen of the home; one son, Bob (Michele) Fields of Pleasant Hill, MO; four step-daughters, Tammy Floyd of Purdin, MO; Terri Cordray of Saint Catherine, MO; Tena (Gene) Snyder of Browning, MO; and Vickie (Tony) Felitsky of North Fort Myers, FL; nine grandchildren, Beth (Chris) Fields, Nathan (Stephanie) Fields, Greg Floyd, Jamie Floyd, Amanda (Justin) Walton, Nickie (Tyler) Woods, Eric Snyder, Dustin (Traci) Hurt, and Brandon (Lauren) Hurt; 13 great-grandchildren, Abby, Weston, Adler, John, Parker, Courtney, Claudia, Collin R., Chloe, Chase, Kye, Londyn, Collin H.; three great-great-grandchildren, Braxton, Raelynn, and Vivianne; and several other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, John William Fields, one brother, John Robert Fields, and one step-son-in-law, Dale Floyd.
Visitation will be held at the Rhodes Funeral Home, Brookfield, MO; starting at 11:00 am. Saturday, June 14, 2025, with family receiving friends from 1:00 pm. until 3:00 pm. Graveside services will be held at the Knifong Cemetery, Browning, MO. at 3:30 pm. Saturday, June 14, 2025. Arrangements entrusted to the care and direction of Rhodes Funeral Home, Brookfield, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are to the Knifong Cemetery Association, for a memorial bench in memory of Charles Fields, and can be left at or mailed to Rhodes Funeral Home, 216 Linn Street, Brookfield, MO. 64628.
