Charles E. Fowler, Jr, age 91, passed away from this life on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. Charles, a Christian, was the son of the late Charles E. Sr. and Kathleen Rhyne Fowler. He was a previous member of Zion Baptist Church and was presently a member of South Clinton Baptist Church, where he grew up as a child, and was an active member in both Churches. He graduated from Clinton High School Class of 1951, attended The University of Tennessee, and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean conflict. Charles was the owner of Fowler Electric Co. in Clinton for many years. He retired from Oak Ridge National Laboratory after 34 years of service. After retirement, he and his wife, Betty, traveled extensively. Also, he enjoyed woodworking, camping, hiking, playing the Q-Chord, and singing with the Grace Noters Musical Group. God blessed him with many talents.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Betty Jane Lane Fowler; grandson, Mark Wolfenbarger; sister, Irene Fowler Steadman and her husband Claude; brothers, Paul and his wife Ruth Fowler and Bruce Fowler; and brother-in-law, James Clyde Lane, Jr.
He is survived by his daughters, Janie Wolfenbarger (Marvin) of Luttrell and Andrea Dawn O'Neal (Keith) of Blaine; son, Douglas Kelvin Fowler (Cathryn) of Colorado; grandsons, Aaron and Nathan (Kristen) Wolfenbarger and Brendan O'Neal; granddaughters, Teryn Espinar-Bastidas (Ricardo), Zaira O'Neal, Lauren Meyer, Hannah Musick, and Caitlyn Puhl; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Eve Wolfenbarger, Paul, Asher, and Ruth Wolfenbarger, Jackson, Benjamin, and Elliott Meyer, and Max and Bodie Musick; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Lee Price (Ray), Helen Fowler, and Edith Lane; nieces and nephews, Shirley Elder, Margaret Tackett, Dennis Fowler, Debbie Crocker, Holly Smith, Heather Brittan, Nathan Fowler, David, Danielle, Jae J, Cindy, Kyna, and Nikki.
The graveside service will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Grandview Memorial Garden with full military honors at the graveside. The family requests memorials be made to the South Clinton Baptist Church, Building Fund, 1000 Clinch Avenue, Clinton, TN 37716. Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements.
