Glen was born on June 29, 1936 in Pampa to Marshall William and Ruby Bell Johnston Franks. Glen was incredibly smart even when he was a child, he truly enjoyed doing math. He also enjoyed weightlifting when he was younger. Glen loved his work designing oil rigs and even patented a brake system for servicing oil rigs and the catapult ejection system for aircraft seats. He was the recipient of several awards at work. Glen was an esteemed member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Glen owned Franks Innovation & Design where he did contract design and drafting. He also worked on the thermodynamics design of the Convair B-58 hustler in 1956 and 1957. Glen was also instrumental in helping Steve Thomas design the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ in Groom. He also helped with numerous other projects across the panhandle.

Family was very important to Glen. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Glen enjoyed taking them to air shows and stopping by McDonalds for a treat. Glen was a longtime member of the Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ then later transferred his membership to the Comanche Trail Church of Christ after moving to Canyon. Glen was still very active as he got older, going to visit friends and attending church events. Glen met Marlene when he moved the office of Franks Innovation & Design into the same building where Marlene was working. They spent 20 years together before her passing in 2014.

Glen will be remembered as a strong-willed man, who always did the right thing. He loved his family and friends deeply and his legacy will live on through them. Glen is going to be deeply missed by those who loved him.
