Professor Froehlich taught me Greek. I have fond memories of memorizing the Lord's Prayer in Greek, with which we started each class, the pastries he'd bring to class from the Greek and Polish neighborhoods around campus, and his love of Alexander Pope's quote: "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing ..." Raising a glass to you tonight, Prof!

Professor Froehlich was an exceptional teacher of languages. I took classes in both Greek and Latin from him, yet learned almost as much about English in the process. I carry the gift of the original languages with me to this day. They are an incredible help in understanding the Word of our Lord and applying it to His people.

Professor Froehlich was a true father in the faith to several decades of students at Concordia CollegeRiver Forest, IL (now Concordia University Chicago.) A godly man who lived out his faith. He taught Greek and Latin with a devotional sense, beginning every single day of class with the Lords Prayer prayed in that language.
He truly cared for us in our studies and faith, staying in his office past 10:00 almost every night, available for conversation, free tutoring, and counsel.
His life on earth has impacted hundreds of Lutheran pastors across the country, and many more. I thank the Lord for my beloved Greek Professor (a phrase he often used for the man who had taught him Greek.)

I cannot tell you how much Professor Froehlich meant to me and so many who were trained by him. He was not just a teacher of languages and theology, but a teacher and role model for Christian living.
