Charles Daniel “Dan” Gabbard, age 84, of West Elkton, OH passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Pam Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Miamisburg. He was born March 8, 1941 in Lanier Township, OH to the late John and Fannie (Back) Gabbard.
Dan was a former student of Preble Shawnee High School. He married the love of his life, Phyllis Hoskins on September 10, 1961. He worked as a maintenance mechanic for Weyerhaeuser in Eaton for 44 1⁄2 years until his retirement in 2006. Dan was an avid hunter and knowledgeable gun collector. He enjoyed staying home and raising his grandkids. Most of all, he loved providing for his wife and children.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Vincent Paul Gabbard and Chuck Gabbard; brother Harlan “Eck” Gabbard and his wife Martha; and sister Sandy Piersall.
Dan is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Phyllis Gabbard; daughters Lori (Bryan Green) Taulbee and Angela Roberts; grandchildren PJ, Lorie, Brittany and Cathy Gabbard; Lisa, Cody and Dalton Roberts; Hailey and Seth Taulbee; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog Chrom.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025 from 1:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 PM at the Gard Funeral Home, 226 W. Main Street, Eaton, OH. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Gratis. Online condolences and other remembrances may be sent to the family by visiting www.gardfuneralhome.com.
