Charles "Porkchop" "Mr. Chops" Garten

Charles "Porkchop" "Mr. Chops" Garten, 22, of Elyria passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2012 following a brief illness. He was born October 6, 1989 in Oberlin. Charles attended Elyria High School. He raced RC cars and had numerous sponsors, including Medina RC Racing, Serpent America, AKA, Sweep, ROAR, O'Donnell Race Fuels, KO, and Great Plains Hobbies. A very talented racer, he traveled all throughout the Midwest. He also enjoyed playing Call of Duty on Xbox. Charles is survived by his grandma Erma Meadows; father Charles "Chip" Garten; aunt Linda Meadows; cousin Chelsee Zabriskie; half-brothers Chance, Jacob, and Zachary; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother Donna (nee Meadows) Garten in 2002; grandpa Gordon Meadows in 1999. Friends may call 4-8pm Friday, June 22 at Busch Funeral Home, 114 Second Street, Elyria. Funeral service will be 12:30pm Saturday at Midway Baptist Church, 41812 Griswold Road, Elyria. Rev. Charles Keesee will officiate. Interment will follow in Brookdale Cemetery.
