Charles J. Giorgi

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Charles J. Giorgi while surrounded by his loving family.

Charles was born in Brockton, raised in Marlborough, settling in Westborough to raise his family, later becoming a resident of Shrewsbury. He was affectionately known as Mickey, Charlie, Dad and Papa.

He was the loving and devoted husband of Mary Louise (Lynch) Giorgi who predeceased him in 2024. He was the beloved son of Elizabeth (Bradshaw) and Charles A. Giorgi of Marlborough. He was also predeceased by his brother Franklin Backman.

Charles was a 1952 graduate of Marlborough Public Schools where he proudly played football as a linebacker on the 1951 team that won the Midland League Championship, later playing local semi-pro football for the Redskins.

Charles proudly served in the U.S. Army and Navy Reserves. Charles spent his career working for The Department of Youth Services at the Lyman School in Westborough, MA and held various State Department jobs.

A life well lived, Charles and his wife Mary enjoyed wintering in Florida, summering in New Hampshire and traveling the world, making and maintaining many dear friends along the way. Charles was always overjoyed to support his children and grandchildren in all of their activities and took great pride in their many accomplishments. Many of his youth filled days were spent fishing, hunting and always boasting about his "big" catches. His beautiful smile, wonderful humor and fun-loving spirit will forever live on in all whose lives he touched. A dear man and one of the "good guys".

Charles is survived by his daughters, Ann (Giorgi) Swedberg and her husband Ralph of Shrewsbury, Mary E. Giorgi and her significant other Thomas Abbott of Marlborough, his 4 grandchildren, Katie Miller and her husband Dan, Beth Korth; Alex Korth, Elizabeth Brederson, Kristofer Swedberg, as well as 5 great grandchildren, all of whom he adored. He is also survived by his brother Robert May of Marlborough and many loving nieces and nephews.

Common, Shrewsbury Center, on Friday, June 6th, from 9:30 - 10:30 am. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, June 6th at 11:00 am in St. Mary of Hills Catholic Church, 630 Cross St, Boylston, MA. Interment will follow at St. Luke's Cemetery, Westborough..
