Charles Glover Obituary

Charles "Charlie" Edmond Glover, 68, of Littleton, Colorado, born September22, 1955 in St. Louis, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at his home. Charlie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was respected by his coworkers and everyone who knew him for his kindness, intelligence, sense of humor, wit, empathy and his willingness to do the hard work as well as his tenacity to  keep trying until the problem was solved.

Charlie enlisted in the Air Force when he was 17 and used the GI Bill and the Illinois Veterans Scholarship Program to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, Illinois. He received his CPA license a year after graduating. Charlie worked for the Federal Government for 25 years, working for the Department of Defense as an auditor and for the Department of the Interior as a Contracting Officer.

Charlie grew up in Belleview, Illinois where he met his wife, Sherri, nee Agnew, Glover, his wife of 38 years. In 1987 they moved to Wiesbaden, Germany for 5 years where Charlie audited Government contacts for the Defense Contract Audit Agency. Charlie traveled extensively with his job. He traveled all over Europe and to Egypt, Israel, Greenland, Iceland, Seychelles and all the Scandinavian countries.  Even though he traveled half the time for work, he was always agreeable to travel around Europe on vacation with his family and they were in East Berlin just 3 months before the Berlin Wall came down in 1989. Charlie was grateful for the opportunity to live in Germany and experience many different cultures and make priceless memories.

Charlie and his family returned to St. Louis, Missouri in 1992 and in 1994 they moved to Littleton, Colorado. Charlie was amazing at home renovation, electrical, plumbing , auto repair, landscaping and anything he set his mind to. He renovated a kitchen, finished a basement, renovated bathrooms, painted the inside and outside of homes and he built an adorable garden shed that looks like a little cottage. Charlie enjoyed playing golf and skiing and he loved to play chess, board games, video games and cards. His family and friends were often bewildered and frustrated when playing games with him because he typically won.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Amos A. Glover and Marie L., nee Wambergue, Burdell; two brothers: Thomas Kettler and William Glover ; father-in-law, Glenn Agnew and his step father-in-law, Perl Hazelip. Surviving are his wife, Sherri, nee Agnew, Glover; three children: son,  Charles "CJ" (Vanessa) Glover Jr., Stepson, Scott (Joni) Hall, stepdaughter, Shelly Bowman; four grandchildren: Mariah Bowman, Marcos "MJ" Bowman, Brody Hall and Brynn Hall; sister, Vickie Glover; brother, Kenneth Glover; Mother-in-law, Carolyn Hazelip; brother-in-law, Stephan (Rhonda) Agnew and numerous nieces and nephew.

Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 28, 2024 at 11am, Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, Colorado 80227 followed by committal at 2:30pm Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Avenue, Denver, Colorado 80236
