Charles Eugene Gray, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025, at the age of 90 in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. Charles lived a full and generous life, devoted to his family, his work, and his community.

Born on December 18, 1934, Charles grew up with a deep sense of responsibility, helping his family make ends meet from a young age. Whether it was odd jobs or long hours, Charles never hesitated to do whatever was necessary to support those he loved. That same work ethic and selflessness carried him through life, always putting others before himself and ensuring his family never went without.

In 1958, Charles was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served as a Military Policeman in Germany until 1960. He spoke often of his time in service with quiet pride and deep respect for his fellow soldiers.

On August 21, 1965, Charles married the love of his life, Patricia Ann (Barton) Gray. Their marriage of over 50 years was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together they built a warm, loving home, raising their children with the same values of hard work, integrity, and compassion that Charles held so dear. Patricia preceded him in death in 2016.

Throughout his life, Charles worked in various roles, including inventory control for the school system—a position that suited his meticulous nature and strong organizational skills. Earlier, while living in California, Charles worked for an automobile dealership that supplied vehicles to the Town Hall Party television show. It was during this time that he had the memorable experience of delivering cars to the show’s set and meeting several guest stars—a story he loved to tell his family and friends.

In retirement, Charles continued serving his community by delivering groceries, medicine, and flowers for Consumers Grocery Store. He took floral arrangement classes at Ozark Technical College in Springfield, Missouri, and founded Ladybug Floral in Nixa. He poured his heart into every bouquet, using his talents to bring joy to others.

A man of simple pleasures, Charles enjoyed playing Parcheesi with his family, listening to classic country music—especially the songs of Hank Williams—and tuning into old-time radio shows. He also loved to play the guitar.

Charles Gray leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humility, hard work, and unwavering devotion to family. He was a man with a servant’s heart, who found his greatest joy in giving to others.

He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by those who knew and loved him.

Charles is survived by his children; Randy and his wife Robin Gray, and Lea-anna Gray; one brother, Paul Gray, two grandchildren; Wesley Forbes and Aaron Ragsdale; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents; Ralph Gray and Zilpha (Davidson) Gray, and his wife; Patricia Ann (Barton) Gray.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, Missouri with Dr. Wade Bridges officiating. Visitation will precede the service at 10:00 am. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, Missouri and cremation rites will be accorded by Adams Crematory.
