Charles I. Hardigree

Edgefield, SC – Mr. Charles I. Hardigree, 76, entered into rest on September 24, 2024. The family will conduct private memorial services at a later date.
Charles was born June 27, 1948, to the late Ervin Edmond Hardigree and Lois Burton Hardigree. He was raised in Augusta and was a longtime resident of North Augusta, having made Edgefield his home for the past six years. Charles was a Life Member of the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local Union 150 for 56 years and retired from the union as a Business Manager with 27 years of service. He was well respected and loved by his fellow union members and co-workers. Charles proudly owned his 1966 Ford Mustang and enjoyed collecting. He owned and operated Charlie's Gifts & More in Edgefield in his retirement. He enjoyed every holiday and never missed celebrating birthdays with his children and grandchildren. He was well known for his immense kindness, gentle nature, and unending generosity. Charles sought out any opportunity to help those in his community. He especially loved providing presents for needy families and children during the Christmas season. Above all, he was a loving father and grandfather who adored his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Hardigree, Donald Hardigree, and Herman Hardigree. Surviving family members left to cherish his memory include his children, Steve Hardigree (Christine), Scott Hardigree (Stephanie), and Dana Shields (David); his grandchildren, Alexandra Hardigree, Christopher Hardigree, Isabella James (Zachary), and Watson Shields; his sisters, Myrna Cox, Linda Hardigree, LaVerne Hodgkins (Allan), Judy Yonce (Ben), and Melvis Yonce (Michael); and his partner, Beverly Anderson.
