Charles "Charlie" Harris, born on August 16, 1929, in Yoakum, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, in Beaumont, Texas. Charlie lived a life rich with dedication, love, and service to his community and family.
He devoted a significant part of his professional career as Supervisor of Operations with Gulf Oil, retiring after an admirable 35 years of service. His commitment to excellence and leadership in this role exemplified the work ethic that defined his life.
A proud Marine, Charlie served his country with honor and carried the values of bravery and integrity throughout his life. His military service was a testament to his character and dedication to the ideals of freedom and service.
Charlie's commitment extended beyond his career; he was a former volunteer at the United Board of Missions in Port Arthur, Texas, and served as a Board Member of the Port City Rescue Mission in Port Arthur. His passion for helping those in need reflected his deep-seated belief in giving back to the community.
His legacy includes numerous proud accomplishments. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Port Neches #1163, where he attained the 32nd degree, a recognition of his dedication and involvement in Masonic activities. Additionally, he was a former member of First Christian Church in Port Arthur, Texas, and a current member of First Christian Church in Jacksonville, Texas, where he further deepened his faith and connection to his community.
Charlie's family was the cornerstone of his life. He was the beloved husband of 77 years to his devoted wife, Mrs. Lavelle Harris of Nederland, Texas. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, who will cherish the memories of their Uncle Charlie.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Hugo Harris and Nettie Mildred Shaw Harris; his cherished daughter, Patricia Harris; and his brother, James Harris Jr. Each of these losses left an indelible mark on Charlie's heart throughout his life.
A graveside service honoring Charlie Harris will be held on March 12, 2026, starting at 1:00 PM at the Oak Bluff Memorial Park Mausoleum, located at 618 Block Street, Port Neches, Texas. Friends and family are invited to come together to remember and celebrate the remarkable life of a man who touched so many with his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering spirit.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions to be made to the First Christian Church of Jacksonville, P.O. Box 1111 Jacksonville, Texas 75766-1111.
