Charles Hessling Obituary

Charles ("Chuck") Edward Hessling, age 74, of Lakewood, IL passed on April 13, 2025. Born in Milwaukee on February 3, 1951, Chuck lived a full, loving and accomplished life, as husband of Vicky (Egdorf) and father to Michael and Michelle (Loose). Chuck had a fulfilling career, serving in various roles for the Montgomery County (MD) Department of Correction and Rehabilitation for over 30 years; he loved to joke that he spent his career "in jail." Never one to sit still, he subsequently served as Risk Manager for the City of Bowie (MD) for an additional 16 years. Outside of work, Chuck loved spending time with his many grandchildren, was an avid music fan (500+ CDs), book reader (3,000+ books read), news/weather-watcher and volunteer at the Bowie Therapeutic Nursery Center. Chuck had a tremendous sense of humor, often telling (and re-telling) favorite jokes to any audience he could muster. He was also a man of deep faith, regularly attending Mass at his local parish and praying the rosary on a daily basis. Chuck is survived by his wife, Vicky; son, Michael (Valerie + 8 children); daughter, Michelle (Scott + 1 child); brothers, Jim, John, Tom, Bob; and sister Judy. He was preceded in death by parents, George and Mary; brother, Bill; and sister, Debbie. A funeral service will be held at St. Catherine of Sienna in West Dundee, IL on Friday, April 25. Visitation with the family will be from 10am until Mass at 11am (livestream of service will occur here St. Catherine of Siena - West Dundee IL - YouTube). A casual celebration of life will follow. Burial will take place on April 26 at 11am at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Saint Francis, WI. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Katie Hageboeck Children's Cancer Research Fund Clinic. Katie was a neighbor of the Hessling family in Wayzata, MN and this was a non-profit Chuck regularly contributed to. Chuck is loved and will be missed, however we are comforted knowing that he will be waiting for us all in Heaven.
