Charles Hudek Obituary

CHARLES FRANK HUDEK

November 13, 1941 – July 30, 2025

Bakersfield – Charlie passed away suddenly July 30, 2025, at home. He left behind his brother Ralph Hudek, his wife Ann Hudek, his best friend Patty McCoy and his stepson DiAngelo Hamilton.

Charlie was a Bakersfield native growing up on Hudek Dairy farm. He graduated from Bakersfield High School and Fresno State University. He loved farming and cats. Some of his fondest memories were from his time managing the Wayside Farm teaching inmates.

I remember "Charley" as either a Driller or JV Roughneck football player. And connected from time to time on campus and in classes. He was always a kind and gentle soul. RIP.

Sadden to hear of Charlie's passing. The Hudek's were a second family for my mother and in such, for myself. Rest in peace, free of pain and worldly concerns.

Goodbye dear old friend! Dear family and friends of Charles. I happened to check here to see what is happening in my hometown and to my shock, there is Charlie, big smile and not where I expected him to be! I haven't got the call from a mutual friend that Charlie has passed. Now my heart will fill with sorrow and guilt because if there was one thing he ALWAYS DID (*EXCEPT THIS last March)..he always called me on my birthday to ask, "How you doing, Dusty?" And there was one thing I always tried to do... keep in touch .at least sometime. But I got lazy and instead of sending him the Bday card I have for him...I got lazy and put it back in the drawer to send next time. But next time will never come! I hope I have learned a big lesson here. I didn't tell him thank you for caring and checking on me. I hope in spite of some upheavals, Charle had a good life. I hope he told some wonderful stories that can be shared to bring many smiles to light up! We're told some stories of the past and they will continue passing around. BUT this time, I had his card ready to sign. Now next time will never come. I let him down! There does the chance to talk about old times, how's life treating him and does he know that his thoughtfulness has never been matched by another guy pal. He was here. he brought fun times into his family and friends lives. H was friendly and outgoing. He won't be forgotten! Linda

Johnny Soiu's ballroom dance class. Age 17. The question mark kick, which I dreaded, but Charlie was always a great gentleman and didn't let me fall on my head. Bye, Charlie! See you later!
