Charles Richard Huestis

Charles "Skip" Richard Huestis, 78, of West Saint Paul, MN, passed away on July 30, 2025 after a lengthy battle with kidney and bone cancer.

Skip was predeceased in death by his brother Christopher (Carol) and parents Charles and Josephine. He is survived by his wife Suzanne and their children Tara and Trenton; sons from his first marriage Christopher (Catherine), Joseph (Francie), and Michael (Gloria); eight grandchildren, Samuel, Shiloh, Simcha, Sharai, Sarah, Luis, Anna, Isabel; and two great-grandchildren, Elijah and Lynkoln.

Skip had a deep sense of patriotism and was proud to serve in the United States Navy from 1965-1969 and later in the Army National Guard from 1991-1992.

Skip had a variety of work experiences, including working as a printer for a telephone directory company, a switchman for the railroad, and as an ER LPN before earning his degree in Computer Science and settling into the world of computers. He worked as a Senior System Programer and IT Specialist for insurance companies, IBM, Target Corporation, and United Health Group. He officially retired from computers in 2018.

During his life he had many interests. He trained in martial arts, earning a third-degree black belt in Taekwondo. He enjoyed camping and cutting trails for the National Forest Service. His most recent passion was Archery. He competed nationally in the Senior Games and used his knowledge to teach archery classes, including the Junior Olympic Archery Development program, and the Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute Adaptive Sports and Recreation program.

Skip's family would like to extend our sincere thanks to the hospice team for their kind service and support. Also, to all those who prayed and offered support during these past months.

A memorial service will be held at Riverview Baptist Church, 14 Moreland Ave E, West Saint Paul, MN on August 16, 2025. The visitation will be from 10am - 11am, service at 11am. Pastor Alex Tibbott will be officiating.

The service will be livestreamed on YouTube and can be accessed through the church website (riverviewbaptist.net/live). A private burial took place at Fort Snelling cemetery.

Skip participated in R.E.D. Shirt Fridays to Remember Everyone Deployed. Please wear something red to the memorial in tribute to Skip and our troops.
