Charles William Jessop, Sr., 87, of Smithsburg, MD, passed away, Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Doey's House.

Born Tuesday, July 19, 1938, in York, PA, he was the son of the late Charles Rufus Jessop and the late Janet Mildred Garrett Jessop.

He was a proud graduate of Williamsport High School and retired from Mack Truck after 46 years of dedicated service. Despite facing many medical challenges throughout his life, he selflessly chose to donate his body to benefit medical research and education. He was especially proud of earning his private pilot's license, which reflected his lifelong love of aviation. In his free time, he also found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially mowing his yard.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joan Elaine Jessop; children, Kristy Lynn Lewis and husband Kevin, Charles William Jessop, Jr., Wendy Carol McGowan and husband Chuck; grandchildren, Candace Winters, Kyle Lewis and wife Lauren, Garrett Jessop, Kent Lewis and wife Cynthia, Shawnee Coss and husband Jordan, Alexa Jessop and significant other Shane, Kari Lewis, Cole Jessop and fiancee Christiana Repp; and eleven great grandchildren with one on the way. He is also survived by sisters in law, Nancy Routzhan and Carol Keefer.

He was preceded in death by his son, Garrett Lee Jessop; sister, Lois M. Taylor; and brother, Gary L. Jessop.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD.
