Charles Barry Johnson

Charles "Barry" Johnson passed away peacefully in his sleep on Christmas morning, December 25th, 2025. He was 82 years of age. Born on August 6th, 1943, in Osceola, Arkansas, Barry started from humble beginnings, working in cotton fields as a child to help support his family. His childhood experiences would instill in him a work ethic and desire to provide a better life for himself and his family. Barry grew up loving cars and racing. He would take that love and become an amateur drag racer and master mechanic. He was good with his hands, both as a boxer and construction worker. Barry would eventually leave land for sea where he found a career as a United States Merchant Marine, travelling all around the World, supplying the US military abroad, and experiencing many adventures.

Upon retirement, Barry returned home to Hudson, Florida, to his loving wife Margaret Ann Johnson and their many fur babies (PeeWee, Brandy, Scrappy Doo, Midnight Mindy, Boomer, and Bella). He would spend his later years enjoying life with family and friends. His best friend and brother-in-law Bruce Sheppard was likely there. If you knew Barry, you were a friend. Being called "Homer" made that official. If you were around Barry, a good time was being had. He was FUN and funny, full of life, jokes, stories, and sayings... some inappropriate but that's who Barry was and you loved him for it. Barry loved yearly family get togethers on Thanksgivings and Super Bowl Sundays. He enjoyed his leisure time watching his Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals, along with NASCAR races and PGA golf. He loved classic Country & Western music (Hank, Johnny, Merle, Waylon, Willie) and Western movies (all of them). He enjoyed playing cards and pool and was quite good a both.

Barry was preceded in death by his mother Francis "Elna" Oglesby, brother Dwight Johnson, and wife Margaret. He is survived by his brother Larry Johnson (Shirley), sister Judy Bryant, son Barry "Dwayne" Johnson (Maria Ruiz), daughters Katrina Lynn Johnson and Jennifer Lynn Boyett (Chris Boyett), seven grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
