Charles Vernon Kalka Sr.

Charles Vernon Kalka Sr., born January 31, 1928 entered eternal rest on August 19, 2010 at the age of 82. Mr. Kalka was met at the pearly gates by his son William Paul Kalka. He is survived by his wife Alice Kalka; children, Charles Vernon Jr., and wife Dorothy, Linda Marie Daggett and husband Charles E., Patricia Ann Ballard and husband Jack David; sister, Ethel Smith and husband Benjamin Hardy; brother, James Oscar Kalka; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Kalka were married February 23, 1949 in Gonzalez, Texas. They have shared 61 years of wedded bliss. He served 13 years in the Naval Reserves and was a patrolman for the San Antonio Police Department for 24 years. Charles was also an active member of St. Jerome's Catholic Church, where he loved helping during church activities, most of the time serving plates and doing whatever else was necessary for the church functions to operate smoothly.
