Charles "Snuffy" Kennedy Sr., 79, of Eldersville, passed away Monday, September 6, 2021, in the Donnell House, with family by his side, after a long battle with cancer. He was born August 17, 1942, the oldest son of Charles and Georgia Kennedy.
Charles attended Hickory/Avella High School.
On June 11, 1965, Charles married the late Linda Diamond Kennedy of 56 years.
He worked as a truck driver for Sutherland Lumber, Smith Trucking Services, and at the end of his career he drove trucks with his son for Kennedy Excavating.
Charles enjoyed hunting, auctions, driving trucks, county fairs, and most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Linda and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Llyod "Bud" Kennedy; and a daughter-in-law, Cindy Kennedy.
He is survived by three sons, Charles Kennedy Jr. (Kelly) of Bulger, David Kennedy (Wendy) of Weirton, and Timothy Kennedy of Langeloth; daughter Marice Brown (Nathan) of Weirton, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Joshua Kennedy (Brandi), Riley Kennedy, Tyler Kennedy, Erica Brown, Kristan Brown, Darcey Stanley (Mike); three great-grandchildren, Joshua Kennedy Jr., Kayley Stanley and Miley Stanley; three sisters; and one brother.
Visitation for Charles will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 9, and from 9 until the 11 a.m. time of service Friday, September 10, in Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown, PA 15021. (724)947-2049.
