Charles Kizer Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 21, 2025.
Charles Elbert Kizer also known as "Charlie" and "Pawie", of Victoria, Texas passed away August 15, 2025 at the age of 85. He was born October 20, 1939 to Foy Kizer and Jonnie Mae Kizer in Grayson County, Texas.

He married Brenda Gail Hengst on March 28, 1964 in Victoria, Texas. He worked for Alcoa for 35 years as an Instrument Electrical Supervisor. He served in the US Navy from June 17, 1958 to May 16, 1960 and then Reserves until June 16, 1964, Aviation Third Class.

Pawie found joy in being front row at his great-grandchildren's events, whether it was a band concert, music program, play, or especially a sporting event. Friday night football games, dinners, lunches out and trips to the movies were his favorite pastimes along with playing games on the computer, playing uno / spades, or watching black and white movies on the television. He always enjoyed driving his daughter, Kathy downtown whistling at the buildings for her and then ending with a DQ blizzard. He was a true collector at heart…coins and countless other treasures, if it could be collected, he was sure to find joy in it…even napkins. Elvis played loud on his car radio at all times, and when car shows came to town, he never missed the chance to go.

He loved serving as the church greeter, welcoming each person with warmth and optimism, because joy and positivity were at the very core of who he was. Always dressed sharp and above all, he was selfless. He loved deeply and gave generously, always ready to lend a helping hand and make others feel special. Taking care of everyone else before himself was the epitome of who he was. Truly a classic, one of a kind and rare.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Gail Hengst Kizer and his brother, Robert Kizer.

He is survived by his daughters, Frances Dolan of Round Rock, Texas, Kathryn Kizer of Victoria, Texas, Kandi Turek (Stephen) of Victoria, Texas; son, Kyle Kizer (Crescentia) of Victoria, Texas; sister, Patricia Hanning of Fort Worth, Texas; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Fellowship of The Crossroads Church in Victoria, Texas.

Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Fellowship of the Crossroads Church or Amvets.
