Charles Lockett Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Malone Funeral Home on Aug. 27, 2025.
Charles D. Lockett, 71, of Geneva, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025.

He was born June 10, 1954, in Taylorville, Illinois, the son of Jack and Joan Sweetin Lockett. He was the oldest of six children.

The family moved to West Chicago, where Charlie graduated from WCCHS in 1972. He worked several places including Exxon/Mobile, Bell Labs and retired from the Geneva High School lunch program in 2020. He loved to work on puzzles, many which are hanging on the walls in his room. He moved into Asbury Gardens in October 2024, where he made many new friends. It was near an A&W, so he was able to enjoy root beer floats, one of his favorite desserts, often! He loved all Chicago sports, but the Chicago Cubs were his favorite team. You could always find him in his chair watching the game on tv.

Charlie is survived by his siblings: Michael (Mariana) of Geneva, Becky (John) Pedersen of Geneva, Julie (James) Chavez of Arkansas, Missy (John) Kissane of Geneva and Shelley (Robert) Prosser of Geneva. Nephews and Nieces: Joel (Tammy) Lockett, Jonathan (Olivia) Lockett, Michael (former spouse Ellen, fiancée Carrie) Lockett Jr, Shannon (Justin) Manny, Ashley (James) Michaels, Nick (Cara) Pedersen, James (Leila) Chavez Jr, Joseph Chavez, Lexi (Emily) Kissane, Hailey (Nick) Eodice, Bryce Kissane and Madelyn Prosser. Great Nephews and Nieces: Ephran, Brianna, Jeremy, Liam, Fiona, Finn, James, Lacey, Madison, Clayton, Harrison, Jace, Kinley, Avery, Grace, Rylie and Carmela. Great great nephews and nieces: Jacob, Jackson and Emilia. His wonderful new friends from Asbury Gardens, who considered him family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 21, 2025 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38). In honor of Charlie's love of the Cubs, please wear a Cubs shirt/jersey if you would like.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, September 22, at 11:00 am at Malone Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Geneva.
