Yesterday

Charles has been a dear friend and an even dearer friend since we were roommates for 2 years in 1966 and 1967 together with our good friend J.Stone Roberts, another great guy from North Carolina. Charles was always in a good mood , even in the last years of his life when he battled horrible back problems with hardware implanted and then removed on various occasions. Despite these painful ailments and a courageous fight with cancer, he presented as a cheerful guy who was fun to hang with. Charles was a straight shooter and never ever attempted to behave contrary to the values he learned at Woodberry. If you are at the beach this summer or in New Orleans during Mardi Gras, stop, look up and you just might see Charles skiing down Ajax mountain in Aspen.
Charles, your friends will miss you and will never forget you.

Rest in peace, Charles. I´m sorry to hear of your passing. Blessings to your family. Our family bought the Granville Road house from the Lowe family in 1966 and lived there 33 years. What a grand house that gave us many family memories! You and I shared many friends that went off to boarding school and I suspect that Henry Sloan has greeted you already You were one of a kind.
