Charles Edward Lynes, 92, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, at his home near Harmon, Oklahoma.
Charles was born on January 19, 1934, in Vici, Oklahoma, to Clarence and Beulah (Ross) Lynes. He grew up in the Vici and Harmon communities, attending elementary school in Vici and Fargo, Oklahoma, and later attending school in Arnett, Oklahoma, through the eighth grade.
Charles was blessed with four children during his life: daughters Eva Janice and Lisa, and sons Ronnie and Jerry. After leaving school, Charles lived for a time in Arkansas, where he was employed at a flour mill. He later returned to Harmon, where he began a long career as a well pumper. Charles worked in that role for 31 years and was known for his dedication and strong work ethic—so much so that he had to be made to quit at the end of his career.
On July 19, 2002, Charles was united in marriage to Pearl Caitlin at the South Persimmon Baptist Church. Together they made their home near Harmon. When he wasn’t working, Charles enjoyed tending to his cattle. He also gave back to his community as a volunteer with the Harmon Fire Department and through his service on the Harmon Cemetery Board.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Lynes; his daughter, Eva Janice Gay; and his son, Ronnie Lynes.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Seller; his son, Jerry Lynes; his sister, Wilma Day; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members, along with a host of loved ones and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Harmon Church of the Nazarene, with burial to follow at Harmon Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Shaw Funeral Home.
