Charles "Lindsey" Martin, age 74, passed away peacefully October 27th, 2025. He was a lifelong resident of Madison, Georgia.
Lindsey served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1976, earning badges as a marksman and sharpshooter with the M16 during the Vietnam War era. He achieved the rank of SP4 E4, a Specialist in Logistics. Lindsey was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. He received an Honorable Discharge in July of 1976 completing his time in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Lindsey was a hardworking man who loved his family. Lindsey loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, racing, and lake days. Tales are often told of him racing cars on the old roads of Morgan County.
After his service, he became an Owner/Operator of Martin Brothers Construction Company with his brother Paul Martin where he worked for more than 30 years. He often volunteered his time to help widows/elderly with plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work, or whatever was needed.
Lindsey is survived by the mother of his children, Sharon Alford Martin; companion, Peggy Martin; daughter, Jackie Martin Williams; two granddaughters: Grace Lindsey Williams, Christian Reign Williams; brother Paul Martin (Brenda), and sister, Nona Gene Thompson. He is also survived by two nephews, Hal Evans and Michael Hill (like a son to Lindsey); and three nieces, Pam Martin Brooks, Mandi Martin Jones and Jennifer Martin Loncon. He also leaves eight great nieces and one great nephew as well as many cousins.
He was preceded in death by son, John Charles Martin; parents, John Boline Martin and Imogene Moon Martin; and sister, Lydia Martin Hill.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 11 from 10 – 11 am at A.E. Carter Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 at the Madison City Cemetery.
