Charles Laurence Meike, affectionately known as Chuck, passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2025, in Largo, Florida, at the age of 93. Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he was the son of the late August Conrad Meike and Violet O'Connor.
Chuck studied mathematics at Aquinas College and Michigan State University, a passion that shaped his lifelong love of numbers, sports statistics, the stock market, and card games—especially poker and bridge. He was an avid reader and devoted sports fan, proudly cheering for the Detroit Tigers and Duke Blue Devils. He also enjoyed coaching youth basketball and baseball, sharing his enthusiasm for sports with younger generations.
In later years, Chuck embraced Florida life, playing golf regularly and indulging his lifelong fascination with automobiles—particularly GM vehicles, a passion inspired by his father's career with General Motors. Professionally, Chuck was an accomplished management consultant who founded and led three successful firms. He was known as a generous, enthusiastic leader who believed work—and life—should be enjoyed.
Chuck is survived by his beloved wife, Sarah Dietrich; his children, Tom Meike (Mara Bladergroen), Teresa Erard (Mark Erard), and Chris Meike (Annemarie Meike); and eight cherished grandchildren: Connor and Christian Meike, CJ and Brian Meike, Bryan and Danny Durazo, and Stuart and Samantha Pliuskaitis. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years, Beverly Jane Meike; his second wife, Carol Bladergroen; and his brother, Gerald Edward Meike.
Chuck will be remembered for his warmth, humor, curiosity, and unwavering belief that life is meant to be lived fully.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John's the Apostle Catholic Church in Leesburg, Virginia, at 2 p.m. on January 12, 2026, with Rev. Michael Kelly officiating. Interment will follow at St. John's the Apostle Catholic Cemetery. A reception will follow at Clyde's Willow Creek in Ashburn.
