Charles Mitchell Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 18, 2026.
Charles Mark Mitchell, age 85, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, at 3:35 AM at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, MO, located in the Lake of the Ozarks, surrounded by loving family members.

Mark was born on January 28, 1941, in Kansas City, MO, the only son of Dr. Charles Wilton Mitchell of Chismville, AR, and Neva Neola Mitchell of Clifton, KS, both of whom preceded him in death. He was raised in Platte City, MO, and later attended Westminster College in Fulton, MO, where he earned a degree in Business Administration and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army upon graduation.

He proudly served his country for eight years, including service in Vietnam from November 1967 to November 1968, and retired from active duty as a Major with the 101st Airborne Division.

Following his military service, Mark built a successful career in business, holding several outside sales positions before joining Bosch in the Power Tools division. He spent more than 30 years with Bosch and retired in 2008 as Director of North American Sales.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mark had a lifelong love of boating and life on the water. He fulfilled that passion by owning many boats over the years. After retirement, he maintained a live-aboard boat on Lake Michigan during the summers and spent the remainder of the year in Osage Beach. In 2018, he became a full-time resident of Osage Beach and cherished the peace and beauty of the water, particularly during quiet walks along the lake in his later years.

He is survived by his sons, David Mitchell (Claudia) and Ben Moore; and his grandchildren, Allison, Adam, and Ryan Mitchell (Anna Marie), and Hannah, Lauren, and Madelyn Moore.

To most friends he was known simply as Mark, while his family lovingly called him Dad, GrandDaddy, and Grandpa Mark.

Mark will be remembered as a man of deep integrity, wisdom, and kindness who generously shared his love with family, friends, and all who knew him. His Christian faith was central to his life, and his family finds comfort in believing he has been welcomed into God's Kingdom with the words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."

Rest in peace, Dad. You ran a great race! We ALL love you and we will carry you in our hearts until we see you again in Heaven! Arrangements By: Rollins Funeral Home-Platte City, MO-Ph. 816.858.2129. www.rollinsfuneralhome.net
