Charles Ray Monroe, 83, of
Trinity, NC, passed away peacefully at his home on September 22, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on October 27, 1941, in Randolph County, he lived his entire life in the community he loved and served.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Millard and Margaret Monroe, and by his beloved siblings, Clementine Hill, Harold Dean Monroe, Kenneth Monroe and Evelyn Clark.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Brenda Kearns Monroe of
Trinity, NC; his daughter, Amanda Monroe Taylor and husband Rodney; his cherished grandchildren, Shelby Taylor (fiancé Austin LaBar) and Andrew Taylor; and his siblings, Vera Stanley, Leon Monroe, Edwin Monroe (Pat), Wayne Monroe (Brenda), and Fairlee Webb and brother-in-law Charles Clark.
A lifelong and deeply committed member of Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting, Charles served as Clerk of Monthly Meeting and Ministry Council, taught Sunday school for many years, participated in numerous church committees and was a member of Faithful Friends Sunday school class. He had a special passion for mission work, dedicating his time and heart to supporting outreach efforts both locally and in Mexico. His faith guided his life, and he found great purpose in serving others through the work of the church.
A man of many talents, Charles found great joy in simple pleasures and hard work. He loved gardening-especially the friendly competition with his brothers over who could grow the largest watermelon. A skilled woodworker, he maintained his own woodshop, crafting with care and creativity. He was also a talented competitive bench rest shooter, known for his precision and passion for the sport.
Above all, Charles treasured time spent with his family. His pride in and love for his daughter and grandchildren was evident in every moment shared and memory made.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont or Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting.
Charles will be remembered for his quiet strength, deep faith, and the love he gave so freely to those around him. His legacy lives on in the family he adored and the community he served.
