Canton – Charles Barry Moody, 67, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at his home.
Charles was born in Greene County, Ohio to James Cecil Moody and the late Maxine Medford. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, James “Jimmy” Carlton Moody.
Although Charles traveled the nation throughout his trucking career, he called Haywood County home for the majority of his life. He enjoyed living in the moment and was well-known for his adventurous personality. Charles took pleasure in riding his motorcycles wherever he went for many years and was especially fond of his Harleys. He also cherished time spent with his daughter, Kelly and with his brindle boxer and constant companion, Cyrus.
In addition to his father, Charles is survived by his daughter, Kelly Kelley, and her husband, David of Waynesville; a sister, Glynis Moody Summey, and her husband, Mike, of Canton; one brother, Daniel “Trent” Hord, of Canton; several beloved aunts and uncles, including a special aunt, Emogene Powell; three nephews, Anthony and Austin Moody, and Michael T. “Lil Mike” Summey; and a niece, Shea Summey.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
The care of Mr. Moody has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes of Waynesville.
