Charles J. Murray

Charles "Charlie" Murray, 84, of Hingham and Pompano Beach, Florida sadly passed away on December 28, 2022 at the Holy Cross Catholic Hospice Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He was born in Hyde Park, MA to the late Elizabeth (Gillis) Murray and the late Joseph Murray. Charlie was the beloved husband of 59 years to Carol A. (Corcoran) Murray. Devoted father of Michael C. Murray and wife, Karen of North Conway, NH,; Nancy J. DeAnda and husband Oswaldo of Pompano Beach, FL, and Marlene M. Austen of Laconia, NH. Also, loving "Papa" to Amelia, Eva and Jerry Austen, Braden DeAnda and Isabelle and Ian Murray. Also, leaving his sister, Virginia Fitzgerald and husband Edward, and brother Donald Murray and his wife, Donna.
Charlie was retired from the New England Telephone Company where in 1982 he was the recipient of the Vail Medal of Honor and the Bronze Medal for bravery. He was also retired from the Boston Carpenters Local. One of his many favorite past times was boating where he was a former member of the Hingham Yacht Club and the U. S. Coast Guard Auxillary. He was also a life member of the Weymouth Elks Lodge #2232 and the American Legion Post of Hingham. He will be remembered for his eagerness to help others and his many stories.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 10am in St. Paul's Church, 147 North Street, Hingham, MA
