Charles O’Connell, 95, of Nashua, NH and longtime resident of Waltham, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family. He was the devoted husband of the late Donna O’Connell, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. He was predeceased by his brother Karlen and his parents Gertrude and Charles O’Connell.
Charlie was the loving father of Karen Stone and her husband Dale and Cheryl Botte and her husband Michael. He was the proud grandfather of Michael Botte and his wife Stephannie, Katelyn Stone, Jessica Stone and her fiancé Andrew Lavelle and Gregory Botte. He became a great-grandfather to sweet Louella Botte, whom he was overjoyed to welcome into the world just one week ago.
Born with a strong sense of duty, Charlie served his country as a member of the United States Air Force in 1951. Following his service, he built a long and distinguished career as an accountant for General Electric, a role he took great pride in. After his retirement, he and Donna spent many joyful years traveling to Florida, where they made countless memories together and formed lifelong friendships that they deeply cherished.
Above all else, Charlie loved his family. He celebrated every one of their accomplishments and was happiest when surrounded by those he loved. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he cheered faithfully for his Patriots and Red Sox. In his youth, Charlie was an extraordinary basketball player and relished sharing stories of his many exciting games. He also enjoyed watching horse racing and cherished his trips to “the Brook,” where he spent time with friends and made lasting memories.
Charlie will be dearly missed by all who knew him. The family finds comfort in knowing that he and Donna are reunited once again.
A burial service will be held privately by the family.
