Charles D. Olson, 79, of Phillips, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Stoney River in Marshfield. He was born on August 21, 1943, to Oscar and Hazel (Drier) Olson, in Burlington, WI.
Chuck was raised on his family's farm in the town of Norway, WI, graduating from Waterford High School in 1961. After high school, he operated Chuck's 66 in Wind Lake. Chuck and Julie Ann Hoffman married on April 10, 1965, in Muskego. He worked for J.D. Boness as an equipment operator and mechanic. Chuck and Julie moved with their family to Phillips in 1976, to start a manufacturing business. Chuck founded Dynamic Balancing Service and later partnered with two of his sons to form Dynamic Fan Corporation.
In his younger years, Chuck participated in circle track and drag racing of both cars and snowmobiles. He enjoyed golfing, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, taking trips to the casino, and wintering in Arizona. He especially liked watching wildlife from his deck, and spending time with his grandchildren. Chuck was especially proud that all 8 of his grandsons achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He is a good example of a life well lived.
He is survived by his wife, Julie; children, Scott (Lynn) Olson of Phillips, WI., David (Dawn) Olson of Phillips, WI., and Eric (Pamela) of Marshfield, WI.; grandchildren, Jacob (Breanna) Olson, Alex (Erica) Olson, Travis Olson, Joshua (Katherine) Olson, Mitchel (Alexa) Olson, Mathias (Natalie) Olson, Zachary Olson, and Grant Olson; great-grandchildren, Hudson, Colden, and Asa Mae; brother, Dennis (Karen) Olson of Colfax, WI; sisters-in-law, Patricia Olson of Muskego, WI and Vicki Hoffman of Elkhorn, WI; brothers-in-law, Richard (Marsha) Hoffman of Grand Rapids, MI and Thomas (Susan) Hoffman of Muskego, WI. Along with many nieces and nephews.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roger Olson and Richard Olson; sister, Ellen Holler; father and mother-in-law, Lloyd and Anna Hoffman; brothers-in-law, Robert Holler, Gary Hoffman; and sisters-in-law, Arlene Olson and Kim Hoffman
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 26, 2023, at St. John Lutheran Church, 120 Forest Ave, Phillips, WI 54555, with Pastor Dean Arbs officiating. A Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at the Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home, 284 Chestnut Ave, Phillips, WI 54555, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will follow at the Lakeside Cemetery in Phillips, WI.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Chucks' name to the Phillips Friends of Scouting, 164 Elk Ave. Phillips, WI. Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home is assisting the family.
