Charles was a resident of Souderton, Pennsylvania at the time of his passing having been a resident of Langhorne, Pennsylvania for 58 years. Charles is survived by his 4 children-Charles W. Olson Jr. (Amber) of Kent, WA; Christina M. Bajkowsky (Ron) of Fort Myers, FL; Craig H. Olson (Brenda) of Ottsville, PA; Constance V. Hammond (Stephen) of Lansdale, PA. He also leaves behind 9 Grandchildren-Chelsea, Emilee, Nikki, CarrieAnn, Danielle, Grant, Brooks, Stephen Jr., Alexander; 1 Great Grandchild-Stephanie; numerous nieces and nephews, his middle brother Richard Louis Olson of Philadelphia, PA and his companion Grace Smith of Souderton, PA. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years Carole J. Olson and his youngest brother Harry Lee Olson. As a father, he taught his 4 children to swim in their backyard pool, he showed them the importance of working hard and he always attended their club sport and band events. Charles served in the U.S. Navy (Honorable Discharge, 1955) and was then immediately employed by the Naval Air Development Center in Warminster, PA for 34 years working in the Aeronautical Instruments Laboratory. During his early working career, he spent his evenings attending Drexel University and graduated from Drexel in 1965 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Among his most favorite things was his love of cars and the people involved with cars. He always took his cars for service at Belmont's Garage when the work was beyond his capabilities. His car hobby path took through many different makes and models of vehicles such as Model A Fords, a '56 Chevrolet BelAir, multiple Buicks, Ford Mustangs and Falcons, MG Midget, MGA, MGB, MGTD, Jaguar XKE & XJS. At one point in his life he bought and sold over 45 cars during his life time. He attended many car shows over the years such as Hershey, PA, and the annual New Hope Automobile Show. He was a former President of the Delaware Valley Jaguar Club and he was very active in coordinating car shows and performed judging duties for the DVJC. His last years were enjoyed driving around in his '94 Jaguar XJS and '31 Model A Ford. Margaret and I have known Charlie since we joined the Delaware Valley jaguar club several years ago. He welcomed us into the club and encouraged us to be involved. He was the man that everyone went to when they needed to know anything about the goings-on of the club, simply because he always seemed to know. Our club has lost a very important member, he will be greatly missed.
On a personal note, he mentored me many times, encouraging me to take on tasks that I would never have undertaken without his help. He was a very pleasant, kind and helpful man to us.
We will miss him very much.
Our condolences to Grace, you are in our thoughts and prayers.
