Charles Henry Patterson was born on August 17, 1943 in Sumrall, MS to Orell and Florence Atwood Patterson.  As the owner and operator of Pat's Auto Parts in Collins from 1974 until 2015, Mr. Patterson earned a reputation as a respected businessman who made numerous friends along the way.  A devoted member of Bethany Baptist Church, Mr. Patterson also served as a deacon and served as Sunday School Superintendent, exemplifying his deep commitment to his faith and service to his Lord.  In addition, his contributions extended beyond the church; he also served on the Jefferson Davis Forestry Commission and the Board of Trustees at Prentiss Christian School, where he worked tirelessly to support and nurture the community's youth.

Mr. Patterson was a proud former member of the Mississippi National Guard, a testament to his dedication to serving his country.  An avid outdoorsman, he also enjoyed restoring classic cars with his grandson, Bryce.  His prized possessions included his baby blue 1968 Camaro Convertible and a 1990 Step-side Chevrolet Pickup, both of which he painstakingly restored, reflecting his love for craftsmanship and mechanics.  However, above all, Charles' greatest love was his family.  He cherished moments spent with them and took immense pride in the legacy he built as a loving husband, father, grandfather.

Mr. Patterson is preceded in death by his parents, Orell and Florence Patterson; sister, Elizabeth Aultman and his brothers, Dr. Burl Patterson and B. H. Patterson.

His memory will forever be cherished by his wife of 54 years, Mary Nell Patterson of Prentiss; his son, Brian Patterson (Amanda); 2 sisters, Estelle Herrin of Clinton, Doris Howard of Crystal Springs; his brother, Dr. Dale Patterson of Pensacola, FL. and his 2 beloved grandchildren, Bryce Patterson and Macayleigh Patterson.  Mr. Patterson also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Patterson’s family also wishes to extend heartfelt thanks for the unwavering support provided by Michelle Reid, who served as both a nurse and a cherished friend to Mr. Patterson over the years. Additionally, the family extends special gratitude to Cheryl Wilson, who stood as a caregiver and special friend for many years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
