Charles F. Percent

1936 - 2021

Charles Franklyn Percent, age 84 of Painesville Twp., passed away March 27, 2021 at TriPoint Medical Center. He was born May 7, 1936 in Lakewood, Ohio to the late Charles G. and Rose (Hermaneck) Percent. He resided in Lakewood until 1972 when he moved to the Painesville area. Early in his working career Charles was a reporter for the Cleveland Press, and Sunday Editor for The News Herald. Later, he worked with several area advertising agencies. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, and playing the piano. He was a veteran of the United States Army and after his honorable discharge went on to serve 6 years in the Army Reserves. He was a dedicated father, and took the most pleasure of taking care of his son, Charlie, whom he took care of after his traumatic car accident, and death of his wife, Joan. He was still taking care of his son, up until his passing. He is survived by his daughter Karla (Frank) Szekely of Painesville Twp., his son Charlie Percent, grandchildren Lauren, Sarah and Jeremy and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his sister Rosemary Brice. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Joan L. Percent in 1993. Private services will be held. His final resting place will be in Western Reserve Memorial Garden.
