Charles Roy Phares

Charles Roy Phares, 66, a resident of Cape Cod, MA and more recently having returned to his hometown of Elkins, passed from this life Monday, November 17, 2025, at the WV Caring Hospice Inpatient Center in Elkins.
Charles was born on Monday, October 26, 1959, in London, England, a son of the late Roy Mage Phares and Elizabeth "Libby" Mary Chester Phares.
Left to cherish Charles' memory is his son, Charles "Frank" Phares and wife, Emily, of Boston, MA, and his daughter, Kathleen Phares of Elkins, three sisters, Jeannie Phares, Annette Weiford and husband Blake, Rose Marie Slattery, two grandsons, Cody Anderson, Jr, and Charles Anderson, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding Charles in death besides his parents was one brother, Michael Phares and one sister, Deb Smith.
Charles was a master welder well known for his work in the Cape Cod area. He had worked for Cape and Island Steel, A1A Steel, and along with his business partner, they owned and operated Fuze It Steel for several years.
Charles was big on family and loved reunions, talking on the phone with family members, and staying in touch with them. He enjoyed cookouts and his extreme scratch off ticket habit. He was also very particular when it came to his truck. Someone who never met a stranger, Charles loved to socialize whether he knew you or not. He could hold extended conversations with people he had just met. He will be missed by his family and friends.
The family's request for cremation will be honored with a private memorial service at a later date.
