Charles Eddie "Charlie" Phillips

Charles Eddie "Charlie" Phillips, 85, was born December 13, 1939, to Ed and Juanita Phillips in Guthrie, Oklahoma. He passed away November 29, 2025, at home in Guthrie.

He grew up in Guthrie until his family moved to Colorado where he graduated from high school in Craig, Colorado. During his young adult life, Charlie had several jobs that took him outside of Oklahoma to work in Oregon, Colorado, and Wyoming. In 1972, Charlie moved back to Guthrie with his family to take over the family service station and garage, and to start his cattle, ranching, and farming business.

Charlie operated his successful service station business for 27 years serving the Guthrie community. After he stopped operating the service station business, he worked for 7 years as lead man for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation's Guthrie highway department office, retiring in 2006. Charlie continued running his cattle, ranching, and farming operations, which were his true passions, for a total of 47 years, and until his retirement from this business in 2019.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Juanita Phillips of Guthrie; sister, Mary Lou Welch of Guthrie; and stepdaughter, Wanetta Lynn Bostwick of Guthrie.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 39 years, Dorothy (Martin) Phillips; son, Charles Andrew Phillips and wife, June of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughter, Julie Christy and husband, David of Guthrie; and daughter, Cindy Smith and husband, Johnny of Edmond, Oklahoma. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Remnant Church located at 2423 West Noble Avenue in Guthrie with Gene Owen officiating. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, 220 North 1st Street, Guthrie, Oklahoma 73044.

There will not be any visitation and the casket will not be open at any time.
