Charles W. Pope, age 79, of Somerdale, passed away suddenly on January 5, 2026. Born in Hope Mills, NC to Ernest Pope & Mary Margaret (Robert) Dunham (nee-Jones), which he has predeceased.
Survived by his loving wife Dawne (nee-Feaster) of 43 years.
His Daughters; C Dawn Pope, Amy V. Pope, Meredith J. Pope and Carrie E. Pope.
Grandfather of Robert Pope-Shaw, Elijah C. Burton and Joshua (Nicole) Shaw.
Great Grandfather of Ryan Charles Shaw.
Son in law Rob Shaw.
Brother of Debra (Jack) Keesee, Tammy (Jim) Kemnetz. and Predeceased E Dwain (Carolyn) Pope.
Uncle of many loved nieces and nephews.
Charles served in the US Navy from 1966-1969. He was a police officer for Somerdale from 1972-2003 and retired as the Chief. He was part of the Magnolia Heights Fire Dept. (SFD) from 1982-present and was also the Past President. Charles was a Past President of the Camden Co Police Chiefs Association.
His first love was his family. His family always came before anything else. Second came fishing. It could be freshwater in the ponds of NC or saltwater from the ICW to the ocean. He didn't care as long as he could drop that line in the water. Then came his Eagles, don't get in his way when they were on.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Saturday Jan 10th from 11AM-1PM at Eugene J. Zale Funeral Home 712 N White Horse Pike Stratford, NJ. Funeral Service and Military Honors to begin at 1PM.
In Lieu of Flowers the family requests donations to the Somerdale Fire Department.
