Charles Porter Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 17, 2012.
Charles passed away on November 17, 2012 at the age of 92, after a short hospital stay. "Charlie" as he was known to everyone who loved him will be deeply missed. He was an extraordinary man who knew how to appreciate the pure, simple beauty of everything around him. Charlie was faithful to God his entire life and lived by a code of hard work, honesty and generosity to those less fortunate. He was a self made man who accomplished much more in his life than he ever acknowledged. Charlie was humble, sincere and deeply committed to his family. He loved being with people, traveling and laughing. His warmth and passion could be felt and he touched so many people with his love. He was the perfect example of those called "The Greatest Generation". Charlie was born and raised in New York City. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and returned from his tour of service to work for the New York Transit Authority. He raised his family in Queen's New York and retired to Winter Park, Florida in 1971. Charlie's beautiful spirit will endure always. He is survived by: his wife Catherine Porter, children: son's Charles Thomas Porter, Jr, Stewart Francis Porter and daughter's: Susan Porter Bowne, Catherine Porter Breuer; grandchildren: Justin Thompson, Nicholas Butts, Morgan Porter, Hunter Porter, Hailey Porter and one great granddaughter: Erin Thompson. He loved his son-in laws Howard Bowne and Brad Breuer and his daughter-in law, Courtney Porter. A Memorial Mass for Mr. Porter will be held at the St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 526 N. Park Avenue, Winter Park, FL, Wednesday, November 21st at 9:30am.
