Charles Quade Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Aria Cremation Service and Funeral Home - Northwest Highway on Mar. 12, 2026.
Charles "Charlie" Ernest Quade, 62, died in Dallas, Texas on March 8, 2026.

Born July 13, 1963, in Wilmington, Delaware, Charlie grew up in Lubbock, Texas before attending the University of Texas in Austin for both his Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (1984) and his Master's Degree in Structural Engineering (1988). He began his professional career in Austin at TxDOT Bridge Division before moving to Dallas, Texas and working at Huitt-Zollars, Inc. for 34 years. He engineered several notable bridges around the state of Texas and beyond, including the Margaret Hunt Hill and Margaret McDermott bridges. Charlie was integral in changing the skyline of Dallas.

Charlie enjoyed sailing, traveling, spending time with his family, and the rare occasion where he could combine all three. As a kid, he learned to sail from his dad and followed his passion into adulthood participating in Snipe regattas. He introduced Kim to life as a First Mate as they traveled to many regattas over the years until they expanded the crew and upgraded to a larger Catalina sailboat that he kept on Lake Grapevine. Charlie loved sharing his hobby with friends and family which culminated in chartering boats and exploring new waters, resulting in some of his favorite memories. As an avid sports fan, he followed the Texas Longhorns and Dallas teams and fondly remembered playing basketball at Lubbock High School. He appreciated live music, a good book, a Broadway show, stand-up comedy, and sharing stories with friends. Charlie is often remembered for his humor, impeccable memory, and gregarious nature.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kimberly, daughter Cicely Webb (husband, Jake) and grand-daughter Carly Webb, daughter Sydney Quade, son Charles Brady Quade; Mother Jane Quade; sisters Mary Waller, Margaret Taylor, and Martha Maeder; brother James "Jimmie" Quade; nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father Charles Richard Quade.

A memorial service will be held on March 29, 2026, at 3 pm at Winfrey Point, 950 E Lawther Dr. Dallas, Texas 75218. Donations can be made in Charlie's honor to a non-profit of your choice.

A super nice guy and a pleasure to work with. In addition to his bridge design and management expertise I remember his willingness to help with the small and mundane.

An especially talented guy whose skills and manner made working on a tough project a much more pleasurable effort. I hope his family tells every single one of his kids and grand kids what an amazing contribution he made to Dallas“s very special bridges.
