Charles "Charlie" Ray

Charles Mattews "Charlie" Ray, 42, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011 at his residence. He was an employee of HECO Manufacturing Company and served in the United States Marine Corps. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Halliburton officiating. Interment will follow in Dyer County Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Survivors include two daughters, Charlee Marie Ray and Kristen Elaine Ray of Jackson, Mo.; a stepson, Michael Wolff of Jackson, Mo.; his mother, Dorothy Virginia Upchurch Ray of Dyersburg; five sisters, Pamela Ray of Dyersburg, Donna Canady of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Doris Chandler of Palatine, Ill., Vicki Davis of Dyersburg and Carolyn Anderson of Dyersburg; three stepsisters, Barbara Sellers of Obion, Teresa Pollock of Obion, and Sara Perkins of Tiptonville; a brother, Jerry Lynn Davis of Dyersburg; his fiancée Melissa "Sissy" Johnson of Clifton; and his fiancée's children, Wade Franks and Billy Franks of Clifton. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Bennett Ray; his stepfather Bob Purvis; a sister, Deborah Cheryl Davis; and three brothers, Tommy Davis, Ronald Purvis and Paul Ray Jr. Pallbearers will be Johnny Wilson, Bubba Shoulders, Matt Pinson, Justin Tibbs, Willie Gable and Gary Evans.
