Chassell
Charles V. “Chuck” Roberts, 78, a resident of Chassell, suddenly passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026, from an apparent heart attack.
He was born on June 3, 1947, in Duluth, MN, a son of the late Charles H. and Phyllis (Raabe) Roberts. As a child, he moved with his parents to make their home in Houghton and Chuck graduated from the Houghton High School with the class of 1965. He then attended Michigan Technological University and received a degree in Business Administration.
In 1968, he was united in marriage to Cheryl Croze.
Chuck first tried a career in music, moving to Ohio, playing and touring with the band Telegraph Road. He then worked for Shopko in Iron Mountain, MI, before moving back to Houghton to work for Soumi College in the Admissions Department. He then began a career working as a Financial Advisor for IDS, retiring in 2010. In 1995, he was also able to purchase with Cheryl, Terrace Edge Cabins in Chassell and they have owned and operated the cabins since that time.
Music and family were the two main focuses in Chuck's life. While in High school, his love of music began. He was in the Kinetics; while attending Michigan Tech, he was in the Telegraph Road Band which he toured with for a short time after college. While residing in Iron Mountain, he was a part of the band Morison and Company. He always enjoyed spending time with his family and following his sons with each of their events throughout their lives. Chuck enjoyed time outdoors, hunting and spending time with his sons at the family hunting camp, the Old Gillstrom Farm.
He also was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and hockey fan. Chuck was very proud of his past 15 years of sobriety. He appreciated the many people that he had met during this time and truly left a lasting impression in that Community.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his sister, Adair Quam.

His former wife and soul mate: Cheryl Roberts of Chassell; His sons: Buster (Cheryl) Roberts of Houghton & Matt (Mary Jane) Roberts of Houghton; His grandsons: Keedin, Kitt, and Cody; Several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
