Charles Robert Roub, of Dover, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, February 8, 2023, in Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital. He was 88.
Charles was born October 12, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late, Robert & Mary(Hibler) Roub, and was raised in the surrounding area. He graduated from Spencer High School in Ohio, Class of 1953, and later married his High School Sweetheart, Jane(Shultz) Roub.
He worked in various places throughout his life, from a large Dairy Farm, in Hinsdale, Illinois, a logging operations in Rumney, New Hampshire, the Columbia Gas Company in Ashland, Ohio; and from 1981-2000 retired as facilities maintenance superintendant for The O.S.U. Mansfield Campus.
Charles was a born again Christian who loved the Lord. He was a attender of the Westside Baptist Church in Ontario, Ohio; and recently attended Faith Community Church, Dover, Delaware.
In his free time he enjoyed traveling, camping and was an avid outdoorsman; but his favorite thing to do was making memories with family, especially his 4 grandchildren, and 6 great-granddaughters.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Aimee Roub; his sister-in-law, Lana Roub; brother-in-law, Tom Weidrick; nieces Teara Weidrick & Joy Shannon; and a nephew Todd Roub.
Charles is survived by his dear wife of 69 years, Jane; 2 children, Beth Young(Bryant), of Dover, DE; and Mike Roub(Jody), of Arizona & Alaska; brothers Ronald Roub(Kathy), of Ohio and Ralph Roub(Madge), of South Carolina; a sister, Beverly Goon(Mick), of Ohio; 3 grandchildren, Zachary Young(Stephanie), of Tenessee; Luke Young(Rachel), of Delaware; and Miranda Thiessen(Carlen), of Alaska; 6 great-granddaughters Olivia, Emma Kate, Susannah, Melody, Emory & Cassidy; a brother & sister-in-law, Ray & Linda Moore, of Ohio; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Faith Community Church, Dover; with a later burial date in Zion Cemetery, Butler, Ohio. Condolences may be sent via: www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
