Charles Daniel Schlaufman

Charles Daniel Schlaufman, known to family and friends as "Chuck", passed away at 79 surrounded by the love of family on Sunday, February 1, 2026.

He was born on August 28, 1946, in Erie, and raised on West 33rd St. He was the son of the late Alfred Daniel Schlaufman and Lavina (Tootie) Dressler Schlaufman. He was a member of the class of 1964 at Academy H.S. Chuck attended Penn State University, before joining the U. S. Air Force for four years. Chuck served his country both domestically and abroad before being honorably discharged. After leaving the USAF, Chuck returned to Penn State to finish his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting in 1974. He built a professional career in NW PA at Joy Mfg., Erie Malleable Iron, and ultimately A. Duchini Inc., where he retired as the CFO. In retirement Chuck loved spending winters in Palm Coast, FL enjoying its Atlantic shoreline.

Chuck was a lover of sunsets and music as well as a patron of the arts in Erie as a long-time season ticket holder of both the Erie Philharmonic and the Erie Playhouse. As a sportsman, he enjoyed golf and croquet and was especially talented at table tennis and in his youth, fastpitch softball. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and later St. Paul's Lutheran Church as well as many fraternal organizations including the F&AM Perry-Keystone Lodge and the Maennerchor, Siebenbuerger, Zem Zem Shrine, and Zukor Clubs.

Of all his accomplishments, Chuck was proudest of his role as a husband to his wife and father to his children whom he loved deeply and unconditionally. His children returned that love and grew from boys into men thanks to their father's guidance and support.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of more than 51 years Rosalie Brand Schlaufman, his devoted children: Erick Brand and Kevin Charles Schlaufman, Erick's wife Jennifer Schlaufman, and his granddaughter Maya Rose Schlaufman. He is also survived by his younger brother Robert Schlaufman (Bonita) as well as many nieces and nephews. Arrangements were handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd., Erie, PA 16506. Memorials can be made to the Erie Philharmonic, Erie Playhouse, or Asbury Woods. A celebration of his life will be planned at a later date.

To Rosalie and Family and Bob Schlaufman and Family: As you know my family lived right across the street from the Schlaufman's growing up. And it was so nice to reconnect with Chuck through my connection with Rosalie! I have many fond memories of us kids growing up on West 33rd St! My deepest sympathy and condolences to all of you.
