Charles E. Scott, 83, of Zanesville, died at 9:35 am on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at his home. He was born June 18, 1941, in Zanesville, a son of the late Betty (Coleman) and Earnest Scott. He had worked at American Match Company for 16 years, retired from Owens Brockway after 38 years, and was Head Usher at Word of Life Ministries. Charles loved the Lord, and he also dearly enjoyed his breakfast trips to The Walk, where he always had friends to chat with and was treated so well.
He is survived by his children, Rhonda Cassaday and Eugene (Diane) Scott; a sister Peggy Samson; fourteen grandchildren Melissa, Katie, CJ, Anthony, Cory, Sarah, Brandon, Brad, Debbie, Sharon, Steve, Danny, Paige and Amanda; ten great-grandchildren; good friends Bob Heslop and Charles Cash; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Marilyn Ann (Claypool) Scott; and a grandson Cody Scott.
Friends and family may call from 2:00-4:00 pm & 6:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, where Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, with Pastor John Sensabaugh officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Marilyn at Duncan Falls Cemetery.
