Charles Shope

FRANKLIN - Charles Robert "Bobby" Shope, 90, passed away peacefully at Angel Medical Center Friday, Dec. 12, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born Sept. 8, 1935, in Macon County, he was a son of the late Charles Prioleau Shope and Queenie Elizabeth Ledford Shope.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles "Billy" Shope; and sister, Betty Marie Shope Dalton.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Kate Almond Shope; daughters, Selena Shope of Fort Mill, South Carolina, and Gina Shope of Franklin; son Samuel (Shelly) Shope of Fort Mill, South Carolina; grandchildren, Elijah, Avery, Riley and Levi Shope; sister, Thelma Shope Cochran of Suwanee, Georgia; brothers, Don (Cleta) Shope of Hixon, Tennessee, and Wayne (Judy) Shope of Franklin; along with beloved nieces and nephews.
His was a life well lived, serving his country in the U.S. Air Force, his community as a master carpenter and his Lord as a long-time deacon at Watauga Baptist Church. He had a positive outlook on life, a strong sense of fun and a gift for making others feel special which endeared him to all those fortunate enough to know him.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Dec. 17, from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., at Macon Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be at the Watauga Baptist Church cemetery.
