Charles Shubert Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium - Justice on Jan. 15, 2026.
Charles R. Shubert, Age 103 years, US Army WWII Veteran, passed away on January 14, 2026.
Charles "Chuck" Shubert, a cherished soul whose presence enriched the lives of those around him, passed away peacefully from natural causes on January 14, 2026, in LaGrange, IL. Born on July 20, 1922, in Chicago, IL, Chuck's journey through life was marked by an unwavering spirit of love and kindness, leaving a legacy that will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
Chuck was the beloved husband of the late Rita Shubert, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories and unwavering commitment. He was a devoted father to his children, Paul Shubert (Ann) and Diane Brewer (Bruce), and instilled in them the values of compassion, integrity, and the importance of family. As a doting grandfather to Melissa, Terri, Mathew, and Caroline, and a dearest great-grandfather to Tommy, Everett, Savannah, Declan, and Paige, Chuck's gentle nature and enduring patience were the cornerstones of countless cherished moments and lessons passed down through the generations.
A proud Army veteran of World War II, Chuck served his country with honor and bravery. After his honorable discharge, he pursued a successful career as an estimator. His professional dedication was matched only by his commitment to education, having furthered his knowledge at Morton College, where he gained the skills that would serve him throughout his career.
Chuck's Christian faith was a guiding light in his life, providing him solace and strength. He lived his beliefs through his actions, showing love and friendship to all who knew him. His gentle demeanor and friendly smile were as much a part of him as his steadfast faith.
Fishing was Chuck's greatest joy, a pastime where he found peace and contentment in the simple pleasures of life. His love for music was profound, not only did he enjoy listening to it, but he also shared his voice with others as a member of a senior choir. These interests were more than hobbies; they were extensions of the warm and loving spirit that he carried within him.
Chuck was described by those who knew him as loving, kind, and friendly-words that only begin to capture the essence of a man whose heart was ever open. His warmth and generosity knew no bounds, and his ability to connect with others on a genuine level was one of his most admirable traits.
As we bid farewell to Charles "Chuck" Shubert, we reflect on a life lived to the fullest, a journey marked by love, service, and the joy of simple pleasures. He leaves behind a tapestry of memories that will continue to inspire and comfort those who were fortunate enough to know him. Chuck's story is not one of an end but a beautiful chapter in the greater narrative of a life well-lived, a life that will continue to resonate in the hearts of his family and friends forevermore.

To a wonderful man who was kind, considerate, empathetic and caring. He gave so much of his time to me. I really appreciated that. I will treasure the good times seeing you and I will hold those memories in my heart. I am so grateful that you´ve been in my life and I have no doubt Chuck that you are with God. Thank you for helping me get through some things in my life. I really enjoyed talking to you about fishing. We shared pictures which I will keep.
I will always remember you Chuck and I will keep you close to my heart.
Lovingly,
Aileen Anderson
