A Memorial service for Charles Anthony "Tony" Smallwood will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, October 3, 2025 at Laird Funeral Home.

Mr. Smallwood passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025 in Galveston, Texas. He was born on July 20, 1958, the son of Rubel Eugene Smallwood and Beatrice Charrier Smallwood, in Alexandria, Louisiana.

In a world where everything is so fast-paced and complicated, most people never learn to slow down and enjoy the things that are most important but Tony certainly did. His family was number one to him and he loved his children and grandchildren more than life itself. He was "Papaw Tone Tone" or just simply "Papaw" to the most adored humans on earth and he never grew tired of having them around. He was the peace and happiness to the chaos of grandchildren. Tony always had a smile on his face and happiness in his heart, even when life dealt him bad times. He loved classic rock music and the open roads on his motorcycle. The peace and serenity of the wind in his face was his favorite way of forgetting all the crazy things happening around us. Tony was also a very talented carpenter, spending years working in construction for his good friend James, at James Wood Construction Company. He will be missed by many, but none more than his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his son Michael Smallwood and wife Hannah; daughters, Shellie Brittain and husband Corey, Miranda Smallwood and husband Jacob Tarpley and Chelsea Smallwood; grandchildren, Dillon, Rhylee, Caden, Adelynn, Ryder, Matthew, Peyton and Weston; sisters, Diana Tousek and husband Jarvis and Jeanne Smallwood-Soniat and husband Rick and a brother, Mike Smallwood and wife Wendi.

Tony is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Susan Smallwood and his precious granddaughter, Lexi Booth.
