Charles Albert Scott passed away peacefully on Friday, February 6, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Bellingham, Washington to late Helen Rose Lawrence-Scott-Hillaire of Lummi and the late James Lincoln Scott of Swinomish. He was the youngest of 7.

He attended the Lummi Day School, Ferndale Central and graduated from Ferndale High School in 1964. He continued his education through the Lummi Indian School of Aquaculture and the Lummi Community College.

He married the late Mary Katherine Olden aka (Katie) on March 19, 1966, and together they had a beautiful baby girl – Dianna Butler.

He enlisted in the Army on October 4, 1966, and was honorably discharged on October 3, 1968.

He worked at Lummi Natural Resources for over 20 years. He was also on the Northwest Indian College Board of Trustees. He was also state certified in Wastewater and spent a lot of time with the Water & Sewer Crew.

He loved the game of pickleball and used to run lunch time tournaments and the Lummi gym. He also loved to play ping pong. He was a natural coach and teacher, and he loved his Seahawks, his Mariners and his Huskies.

He is preceded in death by his parents Helen Rose Lawrence-Scott-Hillaire of Lummi and the late James Lincoln Scott of Swinomish; his siblings Katherine Tom and Lawrence; Ralph Scott, Sr.; Esther Scott Ware and Ron; Barbara Berger; Gail Phair and Ron and Marion Scott.

He is survived by his daughter Dianna and son in law Vernon Butler III of Oklahoma, his Grandsons - Vernon Butler IV; Andre Butler and Deon and Sarah Butler and his great grandchildren – Trae, Emery, Irie and Aria Butler. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Rosalie Scott and many nieces and nephews.

Our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Alderwood Park Health, Hospice and Little Bear Creek Staff for the love and care they have shown him.
