Obituary of Charles William Sylvester
Charles (Chuck) William Sylvester, 78, of Sinclairville, NY, passed away on February 6, 2024, due to natural causes. He was born in Jamestown, NY on May 17, 1945 to James Lee Sylvester and Ruth Wait Sylvester. Charles graduated from Cassadaga Valley High School in 1963 and received his Bachelor's Degree in Economics from Cornel University in Ithica, NY in 1967. He was married to Amerada Bose in 1967 whom he later divorced.
Charles was employed and lived in several major cities, including employment at the University in Montreal, Canada, Loma Linda Research Center in San Diego and for a private company in Vancouver, BC Canada for over a period of 40 years. He was credited for research and was partially responsible for developing testing for lung cancer while employed at Loma Linda.
After being semi- retired he moved to Sinclairville, N.Y. where Charles was treasurer for the local Senior Center, a member of the Sinclairville Historical Society and the Sinclairville Library. He enjoyed volunteering for special projects and assisting others when he could. He was especially appreciative of his neighbors who assisted up until his death.
He was predeceased by his parents James Lee and Ruth Waite Sylvester.
Charles is survived by brother James Sylvester, two sisters Julia Wilson, Sally (Tom) Bartsch, nephews Dave Ray, Amon Sylvester, Tristan Sylvester, Rudy Haskell, Duncan Wilson, his nieces Mitzi Wilson, Jazmyn Sylvester-Cross and many great nephews and nieces.
A memorial gathering for family and friends to remember Charles (Chuck) will be held at Riccardis's Hubert Funeral Home, 111 South Main Street, Jamestown, New York on Monday, February 12, 2024, from 12PM to 2PM.
Following the memorial gathering a graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Sinclairville, NY.
Donations can be made to the Sinclairville Library on Charles' behalf.
